I have evaluated 46 documented chocolate bars over the years and found that two stand out as the best I've tasted in over the counter (OTC) chocolate. My taste is for bold, rich flavors that satisfy with small amounts. And, sugar should be limited on any diet! But, who can eliminate chocolate? And, much proven science supports small quantities of dark chocolate for anti-oxidants.
First: Vosges coconut ash & banana. You wouldn't think that "ash" sounds good or a lot of banana, but the banana is likely added as a subtle smoothing element and not a prominent taste. The bars are fairly expensive though @ $8 retail, but $7 at most grocery stores. As for Taza Coconut @$5, this bursts with incredible depth of chocolate flavor, but isn't as sweet as you may be used to....but I try to evaluate for the highest amount of flavor, eating the smallest amount. More info: www.tazachocolate.com/products/coco-besos-coconut Found at Whole Foods.
