If you're just starting out, you may not have the money for every gadget, but a grater is second in line to your pans, mixing bowls, and turnovers. If you can choose just one, Id get the coarse grater...shop at Williams Sonoma outlet or wait for a coupon! I wish I had these when I first purchasing.....what I like is that these graters:
a. Have their own measuring cup attached
b. Have something to catch the gratings in....if u buy the standard 4 sided grater, you have to wash the whole thing each time and you have to have a big enough bowl for the whole grater to fit in when you're using it!
c. There is a small container to wash, not a big bowl.
