I dont really like to use canned tomatoes, but I dont always have time. Fresh is always better! The taste is preserved and hasnt had multiple processing. Make this on a lazy Sunday! This is something that you could freeze and have ready vs. buying frozen dishes or for your lunch over the week.
Js homemade bolognese sauce
Makes 3c. Takes about an hour.
8 oz ground sirloin- antibiotic/hormone free
1 tea organic italian seasoning (I used Aldi)
Cook and crumble while cooking. Take burger out and set aside. Discard the fat, but don’t clean the skillet.
1 TBL EVOO
1/2 C yellow onion- chopped
1 TBL + 1 tea minced garlic
Cook a few mins until fragrant. Add rest.
1/4C red wine
This will take up all the seasoning in the pan, let it simmer down to a TBL.
1.5 lbs or about 3 beefsteak tomatoes- chop into small pieces (I keep skins on, many benefits in skin)
Add to pan, as they heat, u can use a potato masher maybe 3x to crush.
1/2 C water
1/4C tomato paste
1 tea italian seasoning
1 TBL dried parsley
1 tea dried basil
3/4 tea dried mediterranean oregano
2 small bayleaves
3/4 tea stevia extract powder
3/4 tea celtic salt
2 tea Williams Sonoma pizza seasoning (this contains crushed red pepper)
Simmer, then add beef, simmer at least 15 mins on low.
TOTAL SAUCE/CUP: 5.2 points
